Gina Rinehart's Hancock Mulls Move into Peru Copper - Report
SYDNEY--Australian billionaire Gina Rinehart's Hancock Prospecting Pty. Ltd. is considering a move into Peru's copper industry, The Australian Financial Review cited Peru's minister of energy and mines, Jorge Merino, as saying.
The newspaper Saturday reported Hancock--which holds stakes in several iron-ore sites in Australia's Pilbara region and in coal projects in the country's east--had met with Mr. Merino to discuss copper mining opportunities in Peru, the world's third-biggest producer of the metal.
The article cited people close to Hancock Prospecting as saying the talks were preliminary. The company couldn't be reached for comment.
