aaa53, sorry to hear your investment is well down, mine is too about the same amount but with fewer shares.
i think you can forget about the government stepping in further and helping the poor down-trodden mining sector that's done it so hard for so long with so few tax breaks and such desperately underpaid management and staff, beyond the existing waiver of royalties.
if clowns want to throw funds into poorly thought out and executed investments let them., why should the govt bail them out. i'd rather see tax dollars go into national disability insurance scheme, or gongski..
i don't think you can make a case for govt aid on regional development grounds. lets face it, the mine is in the middle of pretty much nowhere on the edge of the desert. virtually no-one lives there and why would anyone want to?
still, i don't think the GBG gane is over just yet, though a great shame about the lack of reaction in the SP to the falling aussie dollar.
maybe management hedged earlier at US$1.05 fearing the aussie could go higher.
