Yes I agree both parties do need to reinvent themselves but I don’t agree about the liberal base moving away from as their primary vote has been ok for the last few elections but labor base has shrunk a fair bit. So I don’t think labor can regain it with current policies because labor politicians are of the elite side of the left. Most are career politicalians, lawyers or party hacks. This is not a problem with the libs or the Nats as they still have people from the right side who always came from the elite. Labor have created these individuals through too much nepotism with unionism and the Labor party becoming a business and political weapon as opposed to a social movement.
I suppose the next election will tell if the public is swayed by the ABC and labor’s leaders arguments about various issues but I think not to be honest. I hope for a reinvigorated labor or another similar party with a strong connection to social change but the current Labor is not that.
