Everyone seems to have forgotten that the Murkhiani 1 well in Georgia is an appraisal well. The idea is to gather as much information during the course of the drill that will aid and add to the existing seismic data to enable a more complete geological picture to be completed of the entire license block. Each additional well drilled will add to this picture and build a better data-base for further exploration. Side core samples add to this data-base, and VSP will add detail below the current well depth. It is all about prudent information gathering.
