The pollies could not care less about communities. It was all a con to save their own bacon, because of the State Election results, earlier in the year. The mining boom is over. The housing bubble has burst. As soon as the State Govt runs out of cash, Mels Pels will be sold to the majors, and the community will have no say. Can they say no to the big boys, with deep pockets? I don't think so. But they were shit scared of the knitting nannas and the shock jocks that rule the airwaves and influence Govt policy.

They should all be ashamed of themselves. A scaremongering campaign led by professional anti fossil fuel activists and the looney Greens won against science and facts. Santos and AGL are the only ones left in NSW.

Hoping that Mel doesn't squander the pittance of compo offerred. But it is a hard task as no go States are NSW, VIC and TAS. We at least know that the NT and SA want a gas industry. No more ventures in the USA please. ELK, would have put us in a bigger hole. As I no longer have any shares in Mel, I wish everyone luck and am still interested in reading about Mel and its future.
