    Role Overview:

    To continue to propel Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) forward as a growth steamroller we are hiring an Integrated Safety Analysis Manager at our Wilmington, NC location (yes, you could work near the beach!).

    This role will report to the Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for the performance and ongoing maintenance of integrated safety analyses and supporting documentation for Global Laser Enrichment’s (GLE) existing Test Loop facility as well as the company’s proposed production-scale uranium enrichment facility.

    About the Role:

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct an ISA of appropriate detail for each applicable process or operation, using methods and staff (internal and/or external) adequate to meet the requirements of 10 CFR 70.62(c)(1) and (2) and consistent with the guidance of NUREG-1513.
    • Identify and evaluate all credible accident sequences involving process deviations or credible internal and external events that could result in facility-induced consequences to the workers, public, or environment.
    • Designate engineered and/or administrative items relied on for safety (IROFS) to either prevent such accidents or mitigate their consequences to an acceptable level (meeting the performance requirements of 10 CFR 70.61).
    • Develop and apply supporting management measures to provide reasonable assurance of the availability and reliability of IROFS.
    • Maintain the full ISA and all supporting documentation in accordance with license commitments and records requirements.
    • Prepare and submit an ISA Summary to the NRC in conjunction with the company’s application for a special nuclear materials license for a production-scale facility.
    • Prepare and submit the annual ISA Summary update to the NRC, covering changes to the facility, the ISA, and the ISA Summary.
    • Develop expertise in the application of ISA controls and management measures for existing operational equipment and processes, particularly with respect to relevant NRC guidance and requirements.
    • Lead ISA team meetings with operations and nuclear safety personnel to define and review operational risks on an ongoing basis.
    • Perform ISA screening reviews to determine change stakeholders and ensure compliance with NRC requirements.
    • Lead continuous improvement projects associated with the ISA program, controls, and management measures.
    • Audit existing facilities and processes to assess and drive the effectiveness of the ISA program.
    • Maintain ISA program policies and procedures.
    • Provide advice and counsel to company leadership and operational management on matters concerning the ISA program.
    • Champion a strong nuclear safety culture and safety-conscious work environment.

    About You:

    • You must have an active DOE/NRC Q-clearance or equivalent (DOD Top Secret).
    • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or college in engineering or other relevant discipline.
    • Minimum five (5) years of experience in nuclear engineering, nuclear operations, or nuclear safety-related role.
    • Minimum two (2) years working in relevant nuclear operations environment.
    • Self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
    • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong technical acumen.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficient at Microsoft Office suite.
    • Ability to work extended hours on occasion and travel as required (~10%).
