Role Overview:

To continue to propel Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) forward as a growth steamroller we are hiring a Mechanical Technician at our Wilmington, NC location (yes, you could work near the beach!).

This role will report to the Operations Manager. The Manufacturing Technician will provide services including operation of CNC and manual machine tools, mechanical design, construction, installation, maintenance, and testing of first-of-a-kind engineering equipment in support of Global Laser Enrichment’s (GLE) uranium enrichment technology development program.

About the Role:

• Responsible for day-to-day operation of CNC and manual machine tools to support manufacturing of prototype hardware (includes EDM, milling and lathe operations)
• Generation of manufacturing plans, part programs, and development of fixtures and work holding methodologies
• Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to address manufacturability concerns early in the design process
• Perform fabrication, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of various components and systems as needed
• Provide input to design engineers and other engineering team members for continuous improvement
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Perform basic machine maintenance as needed

About You:

• You must have an active DOE/NRC Q-clearance or equivalent (DOD Top Secret).
• Completion of college degree, apprenticeship, or certificate program within the field of manufacturing
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience operation of CNC machine tools (wire EDM, mill, lathe, CMM)
• Ability to generate G&M code programs to drive CNC machine tools
• Ability to read and interrupt 2D drawings to develop manufacturing and inspection plans
• Basic understanding of GD&T and the manufacturing process that can be used to obtain the desired results
• Proficient at the use of basic hand inspection tools and techniques
• Proficient at Microsoft Office suite
