Job Description:
Reporting to the Project Director, the Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing activities associated with the construction, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of new and existing facilities, equipment, and infrastructure at the Company’s headquarters and prototyping facilities in Wilmington, NC. This role may also perform special projects from time to time as needed to support Engineering, Operations, and other departments.
NOTE: This role is subject to the incumbent’s ability to hold and maintain an NRC Q-clearance, as well as their ongoing ability to maintain nuclear site access.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of existing facilities, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of the installation and commissioning of new equipment and infrastructure according to project specifications and schedules.
- Supervise technicians and contractors as needed to perform projects and activities beyond the capabilities of Company staff.
- Establish and maintain the preventive maintenance program for all facilities, supporting equipment, and infrastructure.
- Support engineering and operations teams in the planning, installation, commissioning, and shakedown of new process equipment.
- Ensure the safe and compliant execution of all activities by demonstrating/championing a strong nuclear safety culture and participating in integrated safety analyses, job hazard analyses, work planning and control, etc.
- Work closely with EHS and operations to achieve and maintain high standards of industrial hygiene.
- Coordinate third-party inspections of facilities and equipment as required by federal, state, and local regulations (pressure vessel inspections, fire marshal inspections, etc.).
- Develop and oversee facilities maintenance and upgrade budgets (incl. capital improvements, as applicable).
- Qualify and serve as an alternate Building Manager and/or Area Manager/Engineer (as appropriate) under SNM-1097 for the Company’s Test Loop facility.
- Additional responsibilities consistent with the incumbent’s skills, qualifications, and experience level, as applicable.
Basic Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
- Must be a US citizen with ability to acquire and maintain a US NRC/DOE “Q” security clearance.
- Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) preferred in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.).
- Minimum of ten (10) years of industrial facilities management and/or operations experience with at least five (5) years managing related teams.
- Experience applying technical proficiency in process instrumentation, general maintenance systems, electrical/mechanical HVAC & energy management systems in complex facilities.
- Experience in construction and/or project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel and Word.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience managing nuclear facility maintenance and/or construction activities strongly preferred.
- Expert knowledge of construction engineering and/or project management principles.
- Expertise in conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in collaborative problem solving to resolve facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field and liaison between engineering, operations, and contractors.
- Proven ability to suggest, develop, and implement process improvements.
- Demonstrated skills in multi-disciplinary team building and cross-functional leadership.
- Experience working in classified and/or secure environments.
