    As religion is still a major part of our human fabric, in my opinion, it is not a matter of accepting the teachings of the founders and leaders of religions but of being tolerant of the differences without wanting to extract revenge on each other over the differences.

    Given the threats that we bandy about for not following our beliefs, death for apostasy, honour killings, the inferior positions of women etc... and so on humanity has a long way to go.

    The alternative is to give up religion and its contradictions and unpleasant side in each exchange for an emphasis on our kind and tolerant side which we often demonstrate that we are capable of in spite of claims this is beyond our capabilities without the guidance of a celestial superpower.
