I don't know why these biomarkers are used specifically, but these same biomarkers were used in a study conducted recently to compare performance between multiplex cytokine assays using beads from different providers. The data isn't public. Anteo beads were not included in the comparison, but Affymetrix beads were. They were looking at the quality of each bead, (%CV, specificity, background etc.) A number of bead providers have serious room for improvement. All imo.
