I worked for a contractor Thompson Mechanical on steam turbines owned by Calpine in Northern California.
There is very high ware on the turbines as the steam is full of ocrrosive minerals. Turbines had to be stripped dwon every 3 years and we would stick weld and buid up the grooves that the impeller fans spun in.
nothings a free lunch.
