My understanding was that reprocessing landfill was uneconomic and that only the tolling fee that alcoa pay makes the process worth doing - very difficult to know given the lack of transparency from the company on energy/reagent/staff/maintenance costs and the proportion of aluminium/salt/NMP and the prices they get.

The US situation is currently an empty old industrial building with a carpark, and some contracts negotiated before the latest round of tweaks.

The company needs to put out a better statement to clarify the situation - they seem to deliberately mix up the rolling mill and recycler at Yennora (are they not one and the same, ie recycled aluminium is rolled into new product?).

If I were still a holder I would call Alcoa Australia and/or MHM directly to clarify.
