The point you're missing, is that the ice going into the ocean and decreasing salinity would be a direct result of global warming.
Global warming doesn't mean EVERYWHERE gets hotter, only that the average global temperature does.
It is quite possible for Eurpoe to be under ice, while the rest of the planet swelters.
