I don't think the present drought is unprecedented. Australia has always been a land of extremes. Eventually great floods will come and global warming will again be blamed by some. Coldest October I can ever remember at my place here on the Atherton Tablelands of Nth Qld. Thermometer in my house has recorded a maximum of 18 degrees and a minimum of 14 degrees every day so far this month. Usually the max is above 30 every day in October, so we think we are freezing and are wearing long pants and jumpers when a t-shirt and shorts should be normal garb. Dave R.
