One other factor is electricity from Underground Coal Gasification. This is still not really clean coal but the predicted CO2 emissions are 25% less than best practice black coal power and 60% less than dirty Yallorn.
May be an acceptable stop gap until we can really fire up geothermal. Cougar Energy I think is planning to have a 400 mW plant on line by 2011, LNC and CNX seem to be thinking along similar lines.
