it was the same with international trade reform...for some bizarre reason Australia had to try and lead the world with that. With GATT etc. The result? Our manufacturing industry (along with hundreds of thousands of jobs) is just about dead.
I think its how our pollies try to curry respect abroad...they know we're a small player but if we try and suck up to the powerful we quite get respect. Look
