The whole discussion regarding power generation ignores the profit factor and employement. Most of the electricity generation is used in the manufacturing sector which produces the consumer goods. As manufacturing has moved to Asia so has the polution; with cheap labour more goods and polution can be created. Somewhere down the track, this process has to be reversed or slowed at great expense. It will either be by the products being so expensive that their use lifespan has to be lengthened considerably, or the clean energy input makes them expensive. The throw away world we live in can be blamed for our wealth and the polution.
