NZ does 1,600km transmission with an undersea cable in the middle. So I have a pretty good idea, thanks. Pretty closely involved with that stuff in my first career.
I'm thinking you're more worry-guts than mudguts. Seems you're more of a worrying greeny than me ...
I'm an AND guy more than an OR
If people want to do bitcoin I'm not wasting time telling them not to. The crims love it. And a mate was early on it and has shown me his old home built array of heat sinks and fans. Freeholded his house and some. Small cheese in the scheme of things. Things like our global energy, transport and industrial, commercial and residential heating supplies etc etc.
Plenty of renewables coming. Cheaper than coal and gas. And yep, they'll have transmission losses. Just like coal and gas incur freight costs and transmission losses. I'm not seeing a problem once they have sorted out the low price battery tech, and the likes of neometals or others have sorted out the recycling.
Don't worry mudguts. So long as we get rid of the anti-science dunces in politics, obstructing progress, and amp up the human ingenuity to solve the climate problem we'll mostly be OK. And in many ways better. Just mind that 1m of sea level rise, take care of the droughts and the floods, and don't live anywhere too hot without aircon.
Have a great one worry-guts.
