We have a couple of iron bark trees. They are just outside the garden fence and may been planted by the previous owners.
Most of the timber we are burning are old split fence posts.
We were told the iron bark ones were cut with a sleeper saw and brought in from an area around Inverell.
You are right about the gravelly ridges. The exact place to find iron bark trees if you live in the central west of NSW.
Yellow box was good firewood but a real dog to split. No hydraulic block splitters when we lived down there.
