This is certainly a conundrum. If NATO allies ban all Russian metals including copper does that mean China buys it all at a 50% discount like they did with Russian gas and oil? Just spoon feeding China and punishing all others? I guess there will be sanctions on China should this eventuate? Currently, Biden has banned sales of ASML semiconductor machines to China and banned US citizens from working with the Chinese. This will have a huge impact setting China back by 10 years till they work out how to manufacture their own semiconductor machines.
Sanity will prevail sometime in the near future surely.
Just remember LME is run by a Chinese company and low copper inventories will need replenishing. Strange times indeed.
