Voltaire , do you require your children to say 'please'and 'thank you'? If so, are you being unreasonable? Have you done anything near as much for your children as God has for mankind?
(2 Timothy 3:1-5) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.
The same goes for the idea that someone dying somehow restores a relationship between two others, and that it forgives their sins.

Jesus' sacrificial death only atones for those that become his genuine disciples.

(John 3:36) The one who exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; the one who disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.
(John 14:12) Most truly I say to you, whoever exercises faith in me will also do the works that I do; and he will do works greater than these, because I am going my way to the Father.
