I don't buy that a drug would reduce the need for CPAP.
Sleep apnea is caused in most cases by being overweight, but being overweight will take a lot more to cure, than a pill. You'd have to lose SO much weight to negate the need for CPAP.
I use a CPAP machine and weigh 75 kilo.. a little "pudgy" but my doctor says I am not overweight.
Being overweight is likely more psychological and would need lots of therapy and mental coaching, rather than taking a pill.
Unless they create a pill that actually cures sleep apnea directly, then I think the CPAP machines are here to stay for a long long time.
