Given NFL's main activities are presently refining glycerine I think the company needs to change it's description to being a glycerine refiner rather than a biofuel producer.
This is especially so given the negative world view of biofuels with the increase in food inflation and the whole debate over food vs fuel. There is growing ill-will towards biofuels and I can't see that turning around until algae becomes a serious feedstock for biodiesel production.
Algae is an ideal feedstock as the oil yield is something like 45% which is huge compared to other feedstocks such as jatropha, palm oil, etc. There are added benefits in the use of algae as it can be grown in effluent ponds very effectively thus working to reduce the impact of human waste. The main negative to the use of algae at present growing commercial quantities at cost effective prices but this should be getting more attractive given the continued high cost of oil.
