US auto makers consider themselves a dynasty in their own lifetimes - they should be let fall - it would not mean the end of the US auto industry as you'd damn soon see GM/Toyota etc emerge from the ashes with (perhaps) a new management style essentially run by the Japanese.
I saw it at Fremont Ca. where Toyota took over the reins of the worst run GM plant in N America and turned it into a model of productivity unheard of prior to their intervention.
let's hope Wagoner etc get the chop....
