they don't even have to be huge. I think there is the impression in US and Australia that car manufactureres have to be huge companies. Just have a quality product that is value for Australians, using local technology and patents such as orbital engines and Quickstep composite metal melding etc. The world would beat a path to our door for the technology. If I'm driving along the highway using less petrol I would be laughing. Govt assistance would probably be needed but it would be better than throwing money into black holes and would stimulate the economy more than just creating bigger burdens for taxpayers.
