GM thoughts…

I know a lot has been said about the GM deal, but thought it was worth making a few points.

The point I want to make is a company like GM does not invest in a company like QPM on a whim that QPM ‘might’ be able to deliver. They need certainty because they need the critical minerals to feed into the gigafactories that they have committed to building. Timelines also line up nicely with the majority of their factories going on line post 2026.

The GM deal took circa 9 months, and involved high level government involvement ( this was confirmed to me directly). I am not saying at all that the Australian government is going to fund QPM, but I do think assurances were given of government support. This is crucial, and implicit when it comes to criteria financiers will look for in contributing.

GM is investing big in the future of EV’s, their objective is aligned with government policy, we know the Biden administration is actually putting end dates on ICE vehicles and BEV up take.

Short term, clearly, the retail market is uncertain and that’s reflected in the current QPM SP, fair enough. There is still a long way to go, and I expect short term sentiment will continue to drive the SP.

My opinion, and we are all entitled to one, having been involved in financing which has included government involvement before, is to be reasonably confident that this project, which has multi level government support, and has been declared a Prescribed Project by the Queensland Government (economically and socially significant) will happen.

We are not all investors, some are traders of stocks like this, so buy, sell do whatever you want, I’m just here to pass on thoughts and info that some might appreciate.
