If you play the market knowing that there are a lot of crooks hiding behind short term price movements (which is mostly noise) then you will do well to know fair value and leave emotions at the door. Crooks exist in every market. Personally I've seen in the Sydney Fish Markets, Goulburn Livestock Exchange, Barclays commodities desk. When there is money involved they are there.
The best way to separate you from whatever it is that you have is to emotionally convince you that what you have is not worth as much as you think or lower than you think and soon. The second is they give you an offer you can't refuse to get you through the door then pull the rug from under you. It is so efficiently done in the market that they do this by the tape price action.
In any moment of weakness, just know that the shares you own don't perish like fish do, don't grow old like sheep do and most of all... You can walk away and really don't have to take the price right here right now. Do it right and you have all the time in the world to hold on to it for a better price.
