This is in 'The Oz' on Friday 5 January 2024 and while it discusses ELD rather than GNC, and cattle rather than cereal crops, the positivity is interesting:

It quotes ELD's national livestock manager Peter Homann, who critiques how cattle prices cratered thanks to the BOM's El Nono prediction, but now he says:

“There’s a lot more enthusiasm and confidence right now, you’ll see cattle prices firming soon,” he said.

“People aren’t talking about weather now, they’re talking about opportunity.”

    The article states:

"...The BoM continues to report an El Nino event, which is little solace to farmers who have bought and transported hay to green paddocks, but optimism is back up, according to Mr Homann..."

    ------------------------------------------------

This contrasts with 'Mr Market's' seemingly negative forward outlook.

As we discussed in the 20234-2024 Harvest Updates thread, GNC has retained cash of about A$2.71 per share. Substantial, so a good buffer, or possible opportunity for a small, sensible and most importantly accretive acquisition.
