Look i'm sorry if my original post sounded harsh but that is the reality of the situation. GNC should have been able to sell to the highest bidder because it may not happen now ADM has a blocking stake above 20%. I mean what are we really talking about here, east cost grain production may meet consumption in the not too distant future, like 20 years or so especially if more people walk off the land and I can understand why. Ohh hang on, we have no idea how much land has been sold to foreigners so Australian will probably be importing grain in 20 years as foreigners will be exporting grain from their Australian land so maybe that point is moot. I agree with your sentiment Australia does not make anything anymore apart from farming and mining and people don't want to do the work particularly in farming and every bugger is trying to hit you up the supply chain it's amazing there is anything left for the poor grower at the end of the day, susbstanance living for most. On the ADM side of things all I want to say is look at the South Australian situation, >90% of grain is exported by Glencore and they are now charging a tiered pricing structure charging more at marginal sites, this is a commercial reality and the sooner GNC does these sorts of things the better in my opinion as it needs to adjust to the new realities. I mentioned they should consider selling their ports as a bit of a gee up really but they will need to do something radical to shake ADM into action. Australia needs to think about how it will double grain production on the east cost in the next 20 years. This is all I have to say about GNC so anyone else go for your lives on this post I won't be reading it.
