Great stuff robhood, was there anything else to your email, did you ask for him to elaborate on the reasons for leaving?
My gut feeling is that it may be to move onto something else and he doesn't wish to affect any commercial outcomes relating to the other project.
I will look to top up on Monday but will wait to see what happens.
