Given that somebody, for whatever reason, dumped more than five million shares on the market today, I think the share price performance was nothing short of remarkable. It shows that there are people out there who are keenly aware that Syrah will have a substantial cash flow, starting in about five months - and that is something which distinguishes the company from all the graphite wannabees desperately seeking funds on the Australian, US and Canadian markets at the moment.

Yes, it's an unexciting time, waiting for news of shipments, and of confirmation of a spheroidal graphite plant to meet North American requirements. Poster @Graphite claims the market is oversupplied. Perhaps, today, he is right - looking at the current, traditional applications. But who else is going to be in a position to seriously address the market requirements in 2019, and beyond? Having watched the development at Balama, we all have a pretty good idea of how long it takes to get finance, order plant, recruit personnel, negotiate all the approvals, and then build a significant-sized graphite mine. Is there anybody else with a realistic chance of doing that by 2019? Unless all those forecasts of demand growth for lithium-ion batteries are completely wrong, there will be a substantial shortfall of graphite production, vis-a-vis demand, within two to three years

When it comes to volume supply of graphite, with a production cost right at the bottom of the world curve, then in six months, Syrah will be the only game in town.
