Harveys have a unique business model though, which I think sometimes works against them. It's my understanding that each store have various proprietors. That is, the electrical section is franchised to one person, the furniture to another etc. This is why each area has it's own cash registers. Therefore, if Gerry is not happy with furniture results from one store, he boots them out and moves them somewhere else. This is suppose to make each proprietor accountable and drive sales to the max, but doesn't always work that way.
Again, this is just my understanding of Harveys and I may be wrong.
I like the JB model. Sales per square meter of floor space is good as they have fast moving goods and no fridges, ovens etc that take up so much room and don't sell as fast as plasma TV's. But JB also have the Clive Anthonys brand too I guess.
