Perhaps....but as one commentator argued yesterday, it was way off the play, the Saints player wasn't looking at Hall at the time and was probably unprepared for a "love tap" and seemed genuinely winded (ie was not faking it for a free kick).
It put the Saints player out of the play when the ball did come down the Swans forward line over 40 seconds later.
It was a stupid, unnecessary and undisciplined act from the captain ......possibly even cowardly if the Saints player was not even looking at him.
However,..........the goal umpire who would have been the closest umpire to the incident did not report it.....so maybe there wasn't much in it after all.
I'm supporting the Swans (in the unfortunate absence of the Cats) so, with some mixed feelings, I hope he does get off.
