premium to BHP (BHP.AU) offer price, broker noting market "pricing in a degree
of optimism that someone thinks they might have heard another player will make a
bid for it." Punters probably also heartened by ACCC approval granted to BHP for
takeover, one less likely hurdle for rival, and slow rate of takeover
acceptances. Despite WMR endorsement, BHP only holding 4.3% interest, including
derivative contracts, with offer due to close May 6. (WEL)
