To check encumbrance details ring the Vehicles Security Register to determine the file contract number. You will need rego, engine and chassis details. With this ocntract number contact the finance company and request a pay out. If you are dealing with the finance company directly there should be no need. A document from the finance comapany indicating no interest in the vehicle should suffice. If you are still concerned about the vehicle take it to a reputable mechanic and get it checked over. Make sure it is not a damn police car also. Coppers have no idea how to drive high performance vehicle and hence trash them as a result.
