first of all, you have assumed that god is a male
male is a convention - there is really no such thing.
secondly, you are forming other concepts and assumptions about something that you think is, or is not, god.

faith is dead without works

in other words, work at giving it your best until the day that you die,
then when the time comes, you might actually know something rather than leaving with a lot of unanswered questions or regret that you didn't put a bit more effort in.

create your own religion that works - that is what the (phenomena of) gautama and many others did.
then any belief in some concept of god gradually vanishes along with the doubts

confidence comes from putting 'it' into practice
what is 'it'?
for starters, look for antidotes for greed, anger and delusion, and apply them, and then expand upon these.

then see for yourself what works well

then concern about the age of the earth, and origin of physical formations, will grow strangely dim

if you, or another being that you care about, has being injured and is suffering, do you have to wait for a dude with a beard carrying a sign saying "i'm god, it's a good idea to use that first aid kit now, and by the way, just so you can focus on the problem at hand, all physical life on this planet is the result of seeding by UFOs from Nibiru".
