There was a time when the church had a monopoly over knowledge. Once it lost that its importance has been dwindling. Today it is even doubtful if there is any honest priest that believes in its archaic teachings.
You are just about correct, there doesn't seem to be an honest priest who believes the teaching, that's on the outside as the top has been infected by modernist and if you're a homosexual and rape kids you are promoted, that's the nature of the deliberate infiltration by those who seek to destroy it.
Many good priest have faced prosecution by their bishops for speaking up so many remain silent either that they are scared or out of fear.
But rest assured, the CC is not the only one infected so is everything else in our culture, just look at the way it's being attacked.
