Not quite sure about the Maxism angle but as for helping to make sense out of life and death that's were we depart.
Now if you discussed not making sense but taking responsiblility to make life as fulfilling as possible through heightening one's spirit I'd love to discuss over a beer.
Religion can help in this but so can commonsense.
Emotions of the low spirited ala greed, dishonesty, jealousy etc create anxiety , anxiety causes emotional pain.
An absence of pain is a prerequisite to a more fulfilling life.
Not marxism just commonsense.
