I'm willing to do the Logan's Run thing so long as it's, say, everybody over 60. Maybe a global death lottery for everybody over 50. That takes care of about a billion or more of us.

Then let's have some global compulsory birth control.

If we could prevent births over a 2 year period then we might regain some equilibrium. With 150 million births a year we are in big trouble. This has always been the elephant in the room. Global warming, deforestation, soil infertility, fresh water, extinctions are all a product of 8 billion individuals hell-bent on surviving no matter what the cost.

It is frightening and it is also the reason I stopped watching those programmes on deforesting Brazil, whale hunting, save the tiger, etc. It's like a snowflake in hell chance of saving our environment unless we take on the challenge of population. And now the Chinese and Indian peoples are becoming more affluent, they have that right, but it just brings the consequence endgame in so much closer.

It may be lack of toilet paper that finally turns the tide.
