There it is as you say, the delusions that were prophesied. Now I know you don't hold much to this prophecy stuff and rightly so in as much as it seems to fit the mindset of every differing sect of Christianity, but you have to concede that the writers of Thessalonians had a handle of human psychology and the eventual state of Christianity.
The Bible is written for Christians so all the tales of delusion are about them.
I agree with you, I think the deluded fundamentalist Christian gets a little rush of blood when thinking about the wrath of God and the annihilation of humanity, ruling in heaven, being the only group on earth with accurate knowledge.
There is a dreadful smarminess behind their claims of spiritual insight, accuracy of understanding, the group singularly loved by and serving God, its delusion upon delusion.
