It is probably reasonable to assume a fair amount of the Bible is legend. How do we know about Adam, Eve, and the garden of Eden? Did Adam keep a diary? Dont get hung up on all the detail, dont take it literally. The problem with religion is they interpret this and that of scripture or what a prophet has said as the truth and followers are obligated to believe. It doesnt have to be all or nothing. If your heart is in the right place you can get much of value from the Bible and other spiritual guides. I wouldnt say my heart has ever been in the right place but better men than I have found inspiration. I am also in my opinion a better person than I have been from what I have learnt. Something is needed to guide a person down the right track, if its common sense I see many people not getting a useful ration (of common sense).
