Some nations use the god story to further their control over the peasants, which isn't the correct use of higher knowledge. I was an athiest when I was young, I just couldn't believe the bible story even as a teenager. It turned out that the bible has been written in a way that keeps the evil people out of that place that we call heaven'. If you look for god in the places that the church said not to look you may be surprised at what you find.Doing this isn't an easy process because some of the revelations are a bit shocking. If people weren't fighting over a religious belief then they would find another reason to attack their neighbours for personal gain/satisfaction.
