sabre, wonder what the author was smoking when he wrote the bit above? He obviously has never heard of China and India, a Chinese domestic gold ETF being established very shortly, or even the vast demand in Asia now for gold.
Also he obviously has not heard Putin's commitment to move towards domiciling Russia's oil and gas production in roubles, the move in the Middle East to trade oil in currencies other than US dollars, or even the move by a number of central banks to lift their gold holdings.

Sure will be an interesting 12 months.
