Yes it can in my opinion, as Microsoft had competition like every sector, yet they ended up dominating, as they improved on the current technology like we have for mass "distribution" into pharmacy required volumes/ scale.
Fine now, like MS DOS was for a few geeks in the lab....but not for mass sales with an IBM like partner in Fuji etc.
