Thank you @Wasabibarako for those kind words, but I think you understand Japanese business culture much better than I do.

As you point out, in Japanese business culture a large company such as FF ranks above a tiny company such as CYP. Also the customer ranks above the seller, and CYP is the seller in this relationship. Therefore, in FF's way of thinking, CYP has two reasons not to be aggressive, and certainly not insulting.

Of course all FF staff down to the humblest OL will understand that the Christmas card list remark was a deliberate insult, irrespective of whether they personally are Christian, Buddhist, Shinto, atheist or some combination.
