Australia's Tissue Therapies Moves Closer To Launching Vitrogro

SYDNEY, Asia Pulse - Biomedical company Tissue Therapies Ltd (ASX:TIS) is one step closer to launching its VitroGro cell culture on the world market having developed an easier way of distributing the product globally.

VitroGro, used for wound healing and skin regeneration, has been transformed into a freeze dried, powdered form. ADVERTISEMENT

So instead of handling, shipping and maintaining three separate substances, VitroGro can now be delivered in a single container that only requires the addition of water or a similar solution.

The transformation into a powder was carried out by protein chemists at the Queensland University of Technology.

Tissue Therapies managing director Dr Steven Mercer said this was a "commercial milestone" and would be a major leap forward in developing VitroGro in global markets.

"The achievement of a simplified, powdered form of VitroGro for the global market removes one of the major constraints on global distribution ... and lowers distribution costs," he said.

"At the same time as simplifying the product ... we have increased our knowledge of (its) commercial applications in a range of mammalian cell types and its particular applications in the area of wound healing and skin regeneration."

This meant there were new opportunities for VitroGro in research and clinical markets, he said.

The Brisbane based company said it was pursuing a range of potential applications for improved VitroGro products including in areas of wound healing, cosmetic use and skin regeneration.
