The very fact that there is a Topic called Endosomal Escape, Peptide Targeting and Intracellular Delivery is extremely telling.
For one, the importance of the Endosomal Escape function is elevated at a conference level as deserving of a separate topic along with 'Peptide Discovery and Hit Finding' and 'Display Technologies and Discovery Platforms'. Of course, its unsurprising in one sense as we know that endosomal escape is key to the efficient intracellular delivery of biologics.
Is this the first peptide/protein conference where Endosomal Escape has featured as a topic? I have by no means done extensive research but from my cursory examination of agendas from last year, couldn't find another example. Of course, the issue of endosomal escape and intracellular delivery is covered in many individual presentations.
Why is it so and who decides upon these things? Does the Scientific Advisory Board for each conference play a key role?
Everyone will need to come to their own conclusions but there is no doubt that Endosomal Escape has become a hot topic.
