If you are measuring gold within 6 months then compared to sp500, ie Jan 1st 2015, I think you will find sp500 has gone up but very slightly and gold has not moved. XJO is also flat.
I have no idea about peaks and bottoms, not interested in that kind of strategy. I also have no idea where any thing is going whether it is stocks, PM, bonds etc. I only have the trends to gauge likelihood.
It seems those who backed gold only are praying for Armageddon or stock market implosion or even the latest Greek implosion to save them? Sounds like an optimistic bunch to leave their wealth to their sons and daughters?
