The funny thing about being a company director, first report or some up there exec is that you mostly follow the forecasts from your management/finance team and you hope that their models on all macro fronts are correct. Otherwise, you'll need to steer the ship somewhere else fast to avoid that iceberg. Often, the models are wrong but on balance are positive, although, every now and again they go hard in the other direction...that's why CEOs are so often walked.
