I sold about 40% of my portfolio of stocks today on the bounce, including Spartan and RMS. It was my intention to hold, but after reevaluation I decided the safe bet for me is to put some capital on the sideline. I still have great confidence in the performance of both companies, but I can't say the same for the stock markets in general, so I decided to cover my ass. If a bigger market slump occurs, I don't expect gold stocks to be immune from contagion. I'll be pretty pre occupied for the next few weeks, and won't be up to date with market events. Even if that weren't true, the unpredictability of the current main market influencer can wipe large percentages from market caps in the blink of an eye, and capital preservation seems the better part of valor to me in this environment. Spartan remains my largest holding, and I anticpate that when the time seems right to me, I'll add to my Dalgaranga holding, wherever it goes. I parted with my Spartan shares reluctantly, but entry and exit costs are a far smaller percentage of my Investment than even normal daily price movements, so that loss is a very minor consideration. I've held Spartan for over a year, so tax considerations are not a problem either. I'm not deserting the war, just holding some of my troops in reserve.
